    Good Morning,

I am both a private pilot and have a light sport pilot certification for Powered Parachutes. I am hangered at the Air Park airport which is in the Addison controlled air space. As such, my powered parachute is equiped with a Mode C transponder and altimeter. However, I am looking for other ‘fun’ places to fly from and found your website as I just joined USUA.org. I looked at your photos of club member aircraft and did not see any powered parachutes. I am hopeful I might meet some of the club members this weekend if I drag my aircraft to yoru airport. The one concern I have is I must take off and land into the wind. I was looking at the airport on Google Maps and found an old picture of the airport with snow on the ground. There appears to be some open are about midway on the airport where I might be able to take off and land cross wind to the airport. Is that space still open and do you believe I would be allowed to utilize the airport to fly my aircraft? I am scheduled for an all day event on Saturday so I figure the only chance I will get to fly this weekend is to miss church and come out at first light. Hope to hear back from anyone and would appreciate a response to my personal email at crvasey3@yahoo.com. Many thanks. Clyde Vasey

Clyde, we as a club embrace PPC pilots. We all love the same thing. However, our airport does not embrace any flying operations other than the main runway or the grass. Flying in-between hangars is a no-no. Also, the airport is not open to the public. You need to either own a hangar, rent in one, or be associated with a club like ours to fly there. Please come out to our next event and talk with us. I look foward to meeting you.

    Jeff,
I appreciate your information concerning your airport being closed to the public. I am grateful for your response and I will continue to look for other airports where there is sufficient grassy area to enable me to take off and land regardless of wind direction. I wish you all well in your flying and am glad to see a thriving flying club in the area. It seems so many clubs have lost interest and I have found numerous clubs with websites that have not been updated for many years. Be well and fly safe!

Still come out and join our club. There are other private strips near by that may allow your use (you would have to ask them). We don’t have any PPC guys in the club, and would love an addition. I know we used to, but they have gone to the wayside over the years.
