October Club Minutes – DFW Lite Flyers – Club 393

Our meeting last Saturday was both productive and entertaining. Our officer elections were held. Jeff Erekson was elected Vice President, and AJ Jones took over the position of Secretary, a job he has done so well in the past. Thanks to both of you for stepping up to help our club. All other officer and board positions remain the same.

We also worked on the planning for the Alliance Airshow booth October 30-31. The club voted to have some postcard sized informational handouts made, and a small banner for our booth. At this time it looks like it will be Bob Carson’s Sonex and Mark Airey’s GT 450 on static display. We are only allowed to have 2 parking passes at a time. A list of the volunteers and when they are working has been made, however, with an event of this scale, we could probably use all the help we can get. If you would like to come and help by just talking to people about flying, Light Sport, EAA, and our club, please do. (and watch a great airshow at the same time!) Since admission to the show is free but parking is $20, it would make sense to coordinate with other members and meet up and car pool to the show. We will start a post on the website where you can leave info about when you would like to go for others to see and to car pool.

Michael Combs gave a presentation about his record breaking flight across America in a Remos. You know, for a guy who showed up at one of our meetings about a year and a half ago with no flying experience, he’s done quite well for himself! Mike, if you tell me the moon is next, I will believe you. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us.

I would also like to welcome back as members Ross and Alan Owens. They have gotten away from the sport for a while, but now are working to get their FlightStar II airworthy again. Last, a big thanks to Avis for the use of her hangar!

Upcoming events are as follows:

November 13th Fly-in/meeting at Avis’s hangar with our pilot proficiency events starting at 9:00am, followed by a meeting and lunch. As this is the first event after the Alliance Airshow, I expect there will be many new people there to check us out. Please mark this date on your calendar and please try to attend.

December 11th Our annual Christmas party to be held at the Mercado Juarez restaurant in Ft. Worth. More info about this event will be announced soon.

October is dues month for our club. Please make sure to check your contact info on the website. If you need to make a change you can do it on the website. If not, you can pay them on the website, mail them in, or bring them to the next meeting.

This is the WX we wait all year for. The visibility has been over 100 miles. I hope everyone gets to enjoy it. Blue skies……….
